Lãnh Mỹ A: A Tale of Tân Châu Silk and its Royal Past
Lãnh Mỹ A, renowned as the "Queen of Silk," has etched its name into Vietnam's history as a product that epitomizes the skill, diligence, and pride of the people of Tân Châu, An Giang, the land of silk.

The creation of Lãnh Mỹ A is a meticulous process, passed down through generations, involving satin 8 weaving and dyeing with the fruit of the mặc nưa tree. The "Mac Nua" fruit, carefully selected for its ripe, yellowish-green hue, is rich in pulp and of the highest quality.
The pulp of the "Mac Nua" is ground into a paste and mixed with water to create a thick, viscous substance that gradually changes from yellow to black. The fabric is repeatedly dyed, dried, and beaten for at least one to two months to achieve the finished "Mac Nua"-dyed fabric. Placed on fragrant grass, bathed in sunlight and gentle breeze, and carefully crafted by skilled hands, this "Mac Nua" silk is given the elegant and luxurious name: Lãnh Mỹ A.
Looking back at the heyday of the handicraft weaving industry, the sound of shuttlecocks weaving and looms clattering filled the air of Tân Châu from dawn to dusk. By the 1960s, Tân Châu silk not only met domestic demand but was also exported to Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.
The Vietnamese Woman in a "Lãnh Mỹ A" Ao Dai
Under the theme “Lãnh Mỹ A - A Thousand-Year Treasure” in honor of Vietnam Women’s Day on October 20th, a day to celebrate the values of Mothers, Sisters, and Daughters who have dedicated their lives to making the world a more beautiful place, Vietravel Airlines organized a fashion show featuring a Lãnh Mỹ A Ao Dai collection by renowned designer Vo Viet Chung on a flight connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The show was performed by the 1st and 2nd runner-ups of Miss Ocean Vietnam 2023 and the airline’s female flight attendants.
The Lãnh Mỹ A collection was previously showcased by designer Vo Viet Chung in a show celebrating local culture and the timeless beauty of heritage. Each Ao Dai is made from Lãnh Mỹ A fabric, with traditional silhouettes and unique handmade embellishments created by skilled artisans. Each piece takes nearly a month to complete, transporting passengers back to the golden age of Tân Châu silk.
In addition to the áo dài fashion show, Vietravel Airlines presented all passengers on the flight with a small gift as a token of appreciation for their trust and support.
